Welcome! My name is Mary, and I am the person behind this blog. This has been an idea that has been marinating in my mind for more than 2 years, and it's really nice to see it finally turn into a reality!
I've put together a little Q&A to for you get to know a little more about the blog, why I created it, as well as to get to know a little about the person behind it. If you have any questions that aren't covered in this post, feel free to contact me and I'll happily answer! Let's get the ball rolling...

What are you studying?
I am a current Law student at the University of Kent.
What blog posts do we expect to see?
You'll be seeing posts relating to the current affairs (mainly focusing on the business/finance aspect of this), the Christian faith and book reviews.
Why did you create this blog?
In a nutshell, I created this blog to inform and to help people grow. By helping you (and I) grow, you become more knowledgeable. By becoming more knowledgeable, you help yourself to become more valuable to others.
Let me go into the backstory a little.
I've always had a deep interest in anything that deals with internationalism, culture and countries. Maybe it's because I say I'm curious, or because I enjoy talking to people from around the world, or the fact that I love exploring new things and places. The Covid-19 pandemic came along, and it's safe to say that it rattled many people. I saw world leaders and experts from various industries working together to try and come up with solutions, in order to get through this dark period. I saw many turning back to the Christian faith-and many turning away.
This gave me a desire to better understand the world we live in. I began paying more attention to current and global affairs, took part in virtual internships, such as the Bright Network Internship Experience UK, which opened my eyes to the world of Commercial Law and more (which in turn led me to focus on business and finance related news.)
In a nutshell, the Covid-19 pandemic gave me a desire to learn more about the world we live in, has helped me to grow in my Christian faith and, it brought back my love for reading.
I don't want to rant on this section haha. I will explain the reasons as to why I decided to focus on these three interests in their own separate introductory posts in the coming days. :).
What is the story behind your name and logo?
TLC was an idea that came to mind after completing my A-Levels in 2020 and I wanted to slightly pivot away from the A-Level content I was posting (If you've been following me before TLC, hey!). I knew that university would be the next major chapter in my life. It sort of all came together after I thought about what I found interesting, found fun and was passionate about- I was about to begin my Law degree, I'm passionate about my faith, I enjoy reading. I also wanted a name that would reflect my next steps in life and beyond too (like the fact that I want to become a Solicitor in the future). 'The Legal Christian' (TLC) is a fitting name that incorporates most of these things.
I have been running @thelegalchristian on Instagram for over two years now. I actually launched this blog at the same time I re-vamped my Instagram page, but, I took it down soon after. I wanted to produce quality content and wanted to try my best to ensure that readers would learn something and take something valuable away. l realised that I had rushed it, and that not much planning and consideration had gone into it.
Two years later, I am happy to say that much more thought, planning, and dreaming has gone into it and that my aims are much clearer. I aim to try my best to bring you great and informational content.

As for how I came up with the logo:
'The'- I was contemplating on which word to use for a while- 'the' or 'a'. I didn't want people to think that I think I'm the best Christian law student/lawyer out there, because I'm definitely not. I went with 'the' in the end because it has a nice ring to it.
The sword in between the scales of justice, represents the 'Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God', as stated in Ephesians 6:17. I used it because the Bible is an important part to the Christian faith and justice is an important theme within it. I'll try my best to make my 'Faith' related posts be in line with it.
As for the colour, I chose it because I wanted to have a sort of pastel themed colour, and it makes the words in the logo stand out!
I used Canva to design the logo too. :)
How long did you work on your blog?
It took me approximately 4 months for me to make, mainly because I kept on tweaking some bits and I wasn't satisfied with the outcome.
What is the aim of this page?
I've stated some of my aims above-to inform and to help people grow.
However, my ultimate aim is to be a light for Jesus! 1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV) says, "So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." I want to glorify God through this blog and beyond. In no way am I perfect, I still have a lot of learning to do. I'm also hoping for this blog to be reciprocal- you grow in knowledge from the posts, and I gain a lot from readers like you.
“So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”- 1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV)
What are 3 facts about you?
I'm an identical twin.
'How to Win Friends and Influence People' by Dale Carnegie is one of my favourite books.
I like Haribo's and Random's (the green or purple one, I really don't mind). Yes, I have a sweet tooth.
Did you take the photos on the 'Home' page yourself?
Yes, unless stated otherwise. I have an interest in photography (I'm an amateur), so if I like the look of something, I'll take a photo of it! I'll try my best to update them from time to time.
Do you have any social media platforms?
Yes I do!
Instagram: @thelegalchristian
LinkedIn: The Legal Christian
Twitter: @TheLegalChrist1 (When making this page, I used the full name, however Twitter decided to shorten the name and add a number next to it).
Facebook: The Legal Christian
I do have a TikTok account, however I haven't posted any content...yet. I do want to, but it'll most likely be a future thing. You're still more than welcome to give it a follow, if you want. My handle is: @thelegalchristian.
Is the content on each social media platform the same?
In short-no.
Instagram- This is where I'll be the most active. My daily analysis', updates on what I'm doing during the day, life updates and more will be posted to my stories/feed.
Twitter- You'll mainly be seeing updates from my Instagram feed, retweets from accounts that I follow and more.
LinkedIn and Facebook- You'll also be seeing reposts from my other social media platforms (mainly Instagram).
Note...
I don't have it all figured out, my life isn't perfect, and I make many mistakes. However, I do want to improve and become a better version of myself.
Also, this is just the beginning. My aims, ideas etc, may change as I continue with this blog.
I'll be more than happy to take on any suggestions, feedback and/or collaborations. You can email me: thelegalchristian@hotmail.com or message me on any of my social media platforms.
With that being said, welcome to TLC, I'm excited to begin this journey!
I hope that I have answered some of your questions. If I haven't feel free to send me a message and I'll happily answer them.
Mary
